From the first image, it looks as if there are no partitions on the disk any way, or you have recently made some changes to the partiton table and the kernel is not aware of them, so it is best to run. Which means, from another boot partition/drive, it would be easy to change it and change it back again assuming you are just wanting a temporary boot fail. Which, in turn, means no need to jump through hoops learning the ins and outs of Grub.

It is to show that drive is partitioned. Usually the MBR has just one full drive entry and it has a MBR type of gpt.
