WebSo I’ve used the oratory presets on my HD8XX and they made the headphones much better. Then, months later I decided to mess with Peace APO settings myself and they made the HD8xX into godlike cans, and got rid of fatigue too!! Webthe regular preset is the most accurate, however it requires a fully parametric EQ. It's called "parametric" because you have full control over all parameters: frequency, q-factor, gain and filter type.

I like quite everything HD8XX does, bass/treble balance, precise imaging, separation,fatigue free and great soundstage buuuuuuut vocal performance is bonkers, there is no around it. Vocals remain murky and timbre is bit off, dammit, it was so close to success. WebHey Oratory, perhaps you could share some knowledge. I just sent back a pair of HD800S yesterday (I personally found the highs to be too much). I know that I could of EQd them, but I ended up ordering the HD8xx instead. Figured I would rather EQ their mids up, than the 800S highs down and bass up. (Also saved $530 in my currency).

With Oratory 1990's Harman target EQ they sound incredible. I actually love the stock sound though 🤷. They sound like a natural progression of the HD6xx. WebThe HD 8XX is not the HD 800S.
