August 19th, 2024. Flare Night at Popham Beach will take place on Friday, August 19th and the annual parade will begin at 7:30pm at the Ft. Baldwin parking lot and progress through the village, ending at Ft. Popham. The parade is led by founder George Popham and his second-in-command, Raleigh Gilbert, portrayed by Popham residents in costume. WebHistoric Popham Chapel is over 120 years old and sits on beautiful Atkins Bay at the mouth of the mighty Kennebec River in the quaint Popham Village of Phippsburg, Maine. The Popham Chapel was built between 1893 and 1896 with contributions from year-round and summer residents on land donated by Peleg O. Vickery.

The parade celebrates the arrival of the Popham 1607 settlers and children are encouraged to come and join the parade.
